Requirements for wound care

1 min reading time

Wound care demands a high level of expertise, carefully selected products, and hygienically sound procedures. The goal is to actively promote wound healing, prevent infections, and minimize pain – regardless of whether the wounds are acute, chronic, or postoperative. Professional wound care begins with a precise wound assessment regarding size, depth, exudate, and signs of infection. Based on this, an individual care plan is created, which must be regularly reviewed and adjusted. Modern wound dressings, sterile bandages, wound irrigation solutions, and, if necessary, special therapeutic products such as hydrogels, alginate, or silicone dressings are used. Equally important are good skin care around the wound, patient-centered pain therapy, and close interdisciplinary cooperation between nursing staff, doctors, and wound experts. Only through consistent adherence to hygiene standards, regular documentation, and individual care can effective and safe wound care be ensured – for the benefit of patients.
