Medical Textiles – Quality, Hygiene, and Comfort for Care and Clinics
Medical textiles are an indispensable component of the healthcare system. They are used wherever hygiene, functionality, and comfort are top priorities – in hospitals, nursing homes, doctor's offices, and increasingly in home care. Whether as protection, bedding, clothing, or hygienic equipment: medical textiles significantly contribute to the safety and well-being of patients as well as the efficiency of daily care.
The broad spectrum of medical textiles includes, among others, bed linen, patient gowns, surgical drapes, washcloths, incontinence pads, compression textiles, and special protective and workwear for medical personnel. They must meet high demands – such as washability at high temperatures, durability, skin-friendliness, and sterilizability. At the same time, modern medical textiles are designed to be both comfortable and functional.
In Switzerland, healthcare facilities rely on certified quality according to applicable standards and guidelines (e.g., OEKO-TEX®, ISO 13485). Sustainable concepts such as reusable textiles or environmentally friendly materials are gaining increasing importance, without compromising hygiene and functionality.
Thanks to innovative technologies, textiles are now available that have antimicrobial properties, regulate moisture, or actively support the healing process. Thus, medical textiles combine the highest demands for safety and hygiene with the requirement for modern, patient-oriented care.
