Medical crepe paper is a special packaging material used in healthcare for the sterile reprocessing and storage of medical instruments and utensils. It consists of multi-layered, tear-resistant, and breathable paper, often made from cellulose. Due to its special structure, crepe paper provides an effective barrier against germs, dust, and moisture, while simultaneously allowing sterilization with steam, ethylene oxide, or formaldehyde. After sterilization, it reliably protects the contents from contamination until use. Medical crepe paper is often used in combination with sterilization films or as wrapping paper for packaging surgical instruments. It is available in various sizes, colors, and thicknesses to meet the different requirements of daily clinical practice. Proper handling – particularly correct folding, wrapping, and sealing – is crucial to ensure sterility over the prescribed storage period.
