What to consider when choosing
In principle, a distinction is made between two main groups. Reusable instruments are usually made of surgical stainless steel, can be reprocessed and are generally autoclavable; they are suitable for permanent use with defined reprocessing cycles. Single-use instruments are supplied sterile (for example with ethylene oxide) and are designed for one-time use, which eliminates reprocessing steps. When making your selection, pay attention to the instrument type and its intended function, the material quality, the sterility (sterile versus non-sterile), as well as the CE marking and MDR conformity. What is the difference between reusable and single-use instruments?
Reusable instruments made of surgical stainless steel are intended for repeated use with subsequent reprocessing and are usually autoclavable. Single-use instruments are supplied sterile-packaged and disposed of after one-time use; they save the reprocessing effort.
