Customs, Taxes & Duties

Customs, Taxes, and Duties – Information for International Orders

Please note that shipments to certain countries may be subject to additional customs duties, taxes, or import fees. These charges are determined by your local customs authority and are not included in the product price or shipping costs.

Payment of these fees is the responsibility of the customer. For more details, please contact your local customs office.

What Are Customs, Taxes, and Duties?

When products are shipped internationally, they often pass through customs, a government agency that regulates imports and exports. During this process, the following charges may apply:

  1. Customs Duties

    • Fees applied to goods transported across international borders.

    • Usually calculated as a percentage of the declared product value, including shipping costs.

  2. Import Taxes

    • Additional fees imposed by your country’s government, often similar to Value Added Tax (VAT) or Goods and Services Tax (GST).

  3. Handling Fees

    • Some shipping carriers or customs agents may charge fees for processing and delivering packages through customs.

Who Is Responsible for These Costs?

All customs duties, taxes, and fees are borne by the customer. ShopMed24 does not include these charges in product prices or shipping fees. They must be paid directly to your local customs office or the delivery service upon receipt.

How Are These Costs Calculated?

The amount of customs duties, taxes, and fees depends on several factors:

  • Product Value: Higher value → higher duties and taxes.

  • Product Category: Different types of goods (e.g., electronics, clothing, cosmetics) may have different duty rates.

  • Country Regulations: Each country has its own rules and thresholds for customs fees.

Examples:

  • Some countries allow a “duty-free” threshold, meaning items below a certain value may not incur fees.

  • Other countries apply duties regardless of item value.

Tips for a Smooth International Purchase

  1. Check your country’s customs regulations before ordering.

  2. Declare the correct product value – underreporting is illegal and may result in fines or confiscation.

  3. Plan for additional costs to avoid surprises at delivery.

  4. Contact your local customs office if you are unsure about applicable charges.
